About WargamesDB

A community powered catalogue of skirmish and wargames.

WargamesDB is a personal passion project built by a single person. Over the years I've re-discovered the joys of The Hobby and gotten a great deal out of it. Before I knew it rulebooks started to pile up. The aim is to build a comprehensive database for tabletop wargaming, and grow a community around it.

WargamesDB brings rules, factions, and warbands together under their shared universes, all in one searchable place. Whether you are here to discover new games or make use of features in your gaming habits.

There is no single source of truth when it comes to wargames, and since new games keep releasing, the site was made fully community contributable. Anyone signing in is able to add, or contribute, games and their information. All contributions get manually reviewed by a (human) admin.

With great data, great features can be built. WargamesDB is currently in Beta; many features are planned around tracking collections and community discussions. Get involved if you'd like to be a part of it!

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about browsing, contributing, and using WargamesDB.

What is WargamesDB?

WargamesDB is a community catalogue of skirmish and wargames, grouped by universe with factions and warbands in one searchable place.

Is WargamesDB free?

Yes. Anyone can browse the catalogue for free. Signing in is only needed if you want to contribute, save favourites, rate games, or build personal game lists.

What is allowed on WargamesDB?

Tactical games involving miniatures. There are no restrictions on the number of miniatures or gameplay mechanics. Anything from small warbands (Kill Team, Warcrow) to large-scale battles (Warhammer 40,000, Conquest, etc.) is allowed. We draw the line at board games that use miniatures as components, e.g. Blood Rage or Zombicide.

Can I contribute and help?

Absolutely! The aim is to be community driven. Once signed in, you can add a new game or edit an existing one. Fill in what you know; admins review every submission before it goes live on the catalogue. Later on, factions, warbands, and maybe even miniatures will also become contributable.

How do I fix or update an existing game?

On any game page, open Edit game (you must be signed in). Your suggested changes stay private until an admin approves them.

What are warbands?

Warbands are specialised factions or lists tied to a game. They are typically smaller than armies, and often unique. You can browse them on game pages.

What is the difference between favourites and game lists?

Favourites are a quick bookmark on individual games. Game lists let you group games you play or want to try, and optionally note which warbands or factions you use for each.

How long does admin review take?

There is no fixed timeline. Volunteers review submissions in their spare time. You can withdraw a pending submission from your contribute page if you need to change it.

I found a mistake or have feedback. Where do I go?

Suggest an edit on the relevant game page, or join us on Discord to ask questions and share feedback with the community.
